mbcoverartNickelodeon at it’s best.

What I love about cartoons these days is that clearly some of them are driven at the adult crowd. With the humour and appeal that we should have outgrown, but can’t seem to live without. With that being said, this movie is targeted for kids, but can be watched by most adults born after 1970 without it being painful.

The dvd includes a collection of 8 episodes highlighting the adorable Bessie Higgenbottom (voice of Amy Pohler) in her crusade to become the top bee in Honeybee Troop #828. Bessie is the culmination of every geeky kid you ever met, and you just can’t help but want to …  I don’t want to completely ruin it for you.  As an adult you’ll inevitably have vast selection of words to best fill that spot.

Episodes:

- We Got the Bee

o When Portia’s band doesn’t let Bessie join, Bessie starts rockin’ to her own beat!

- So Happy Together

o To enter the Honeybee Dog Show and earn the Animal Appreciation badge, Bessie sets out to find a stray.

- Sweet Sixteenth

o Just the teensiest bit under minimum height to ride The Punisher, Bessie goes to extremes to measure up.

- Bee My Baby

o To dupe Bessie into babysitting, Portia and Gwen tell her about the non-existent Baby Wrangling Badge.

- Bee Afraid

o In her quest for the Happy Camper Badge, Bessie goes, well, you know. But it’s scary in the dark. Especially with Portia and Gwen around.

- Artificial Unintelligence

o Will Bessie’s entry in the science fair finally win her the Mad Scientist Badge? Or just make other people mad?

- Bat Mitzvah Crashers

o Bessie and Penny love crashing Bat Mitzvahs, then vow to stop when the partying takes a toll. But can they resist crashing “the Bat Mitzvah of the century?”

- Super Secret Weakness

o The Mighty B is sure to find herself in quite a pickle if Bessie doesn’t help her ‘squash’ her only weakness.

mbbessieThe humour in this dvd is a pinch Mean Girls with a dash of gross out humour, definitely enjoyable. I suggest that it’s something that it’s important to have an adult around while the kids are watching it, just to reinforce the good behaviour verses the bad behaviour.

I give this movie  6 ‘badges‘ out 10.  See it this weekend with a 7 year old you love!
