I don’t think there has ever been a movie with so much fire power. Cannot wait to see this one and review it! Releasing on 13 August 2010.
Official Synopsis:
THE EXPENDABLES is a hard-hitting action/thriller about a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Once the mission begins, the men realize things aren’t quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of deceit and betrayal. With their mission thwarted and an innocent life in danger, the men struggle with an even tougher challenge – one that threatens to destroy this band of brothers.
Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) is a man with nothing to lose. Fearless and void of emotion, he is the leader, the sage and the strategist of this tight-knit band of men who live on the fringe. His only attachment is to his pickup truck, his seaplane and his team of loyal modern-day warriors. His is a true cynic who describes what he does as “removing those hard to get at stains.”
The team behind him is made up of Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), former SAS and a savant with anything that has a blade; Yin Yang (Jet Li), a master at close-quarter combat; Hale Caesar (Terry Crews), who has known Barney for ten years and is a long-barrel weapons specialist; Toll Road (Randy Couture), a skilled demolitions expert and considered the intellect of the group; and Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), a combat veteran and an expert in precision sniping who struggles with his own demons.
Twilight Saga: Eclipse

I’m on the fence here. I’ve read the series, including Midnight Sun, which is just a draft, and I’ve seen the first two movies. However, after seeing the preview for Eclipse, I’m worried that it will parallel Twilight, which in my opinion was a poor representation of the book.
Twilight over emphasized the teen/high school aspect of the story, which I feel in the book is really just used as a back drop.
New Moon on the other hand seemed to stay a little more authentic to both the storyline and the characters and their relationship dynamics.
Where will this leave Eclipse? Somewhere in the middle?
We’d love to hear what Twilight fans think, including all of you Twi-Moms out there who, like me, want the films to up play the relationships, character personalities and leave the highschool drama piece in the background where it belongs!
How many fans out there are planning on seeing Eclipse on June 30th?
John Travolta returns in From Paris With Love

John Travolta returns as wisecracking, fast-shooting, high-ranking U.S. agent who’s been sent to Paris to stop a terrorist attack. Jonathan Rhys Meyers plans a low-ranking intelligence operative who is asked to partner with Travolta. We expect Jonathan to be the helpless and unadventurous partner who has a tough time keeping Travolta in control as he blows up buildings and shoots at people. We might be wrong. But we doubt it. Nevertheless, this is one movie we look forward to.
FROM PARIS WITH LOVE recently completed production in France. Lionsgate has scheduled the film for release on February 19, 2010. The deal marks the third collaboration between Lionsgate and EuropaCorp, following the studio’s distribution of EuropaCorp’s TRANSPORTER 3 last Thanksgiving and HIGH TENSION in 2005.
Said Jason Constantine, Lionsgate President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions, “We are thrilled to be back in business with our friends at EuropaCorp, who are masters of the sharp, clever high-octane thriller. FROM PARIS WITH LOVE is the crème de la crème of the genre, boasting a terrific filmmaking team and the inspired star pairing of John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.”
Said Besson, “It is a pleasure to reunite with our friends at Lionsgate, who bring great energy and flair to the marketing and distribution of our films. In a sense, Lionsgate and EuropaCorp are mirroring a great tradition of action films – we have become a buddy team!”
Chris Rock’s Funeral

Nope, he’s not dead, at least not at the time of this article.
Chris Rock is slated to redo the 2007 British film, Death at a Funeral. The story centres around a dysfunctional family gathered for the patriarch’s funeral. Just when tensions are rising and old conflicts are being brought to light, a man arrives stating that he’s the dead man’s gay lover and threatens the family with blackmail.
I feel like it’s going to a little Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins… but that’s not the worst news ever. It’s like the expression, “Know your audience’. Prepare yourself for the style of movie that you’re going to see. If you don’t enjoy black comedy, then don’t expect to get the inside jokes, or enjoy it half as much as the person sitting two rows in front of you laughing their butts off who does.
To date Rock’s “Funeral” has signed, Martin Lawrence, Tracy Morgan, Danny Glover, Regina Hall, James Marsden, Zoe Saldana, Columbus Short, Loretta Devine and Ron Glass.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus – Preview

Heath Ledger‘s final movie, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, follows the story of Doctor Parnassus and his travelling theatre troupe as they take audience members through a magical mirror to explore their imaginations.
The story goes like this – Long ago, Doctor Parnassus (Christopher Plummer) strikes a deal with the devil and in exchange for winning over his true love, agrees to give his first-born child to the devil when she turns 16. It’s been 16 years since, and the devil has come back to collect. Heath Ledger plays a mysterious young man who has come to help Doctor Parnassus protect his daughter from the devil.
After Heath’s tragic death in January of 2008, the story was modified resulting in Heath Ledger’s character changing appearance as he travels between imaginary worlds. This is where Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law come in and out of respect for Heath Ledger, they donated all the money they made from the movie to Heath’s daughter, Matilda, so that she could have a secure future.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus has been directed by Former Monty Python star Terry Gilliam. Terry Gilliam’s previous directorial ventures include The Brothers Grimm, 12 Monkeys and The Fisher King.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus expected to release in theatres on 6th June, 2009

Seriously, a documentary on good hair? I’ve heard of writers block and being short on new material, but really?
Jim Carrey Plays Gay in ‘I Love You Phillip Morris’ Movie

Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor are set to play gay lovers in I Love You Phillip Morris.
“It’s a hard movie to classify, and you sometimes don’t know whether to laugh or gasp. The easiest thing is just to call it a love story.
This isn’t one of those polite films where the sex is in the shadows. Both straight and gay lovemaking is right out there in the open, so much so that it will be hard for Phillip Morris to escape the punitive NC-17 rating stateside.
Co-directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the film goes to extremes both with comedy and drama, as we see in the opening frame. Carrey’s character, Steven Russell, who is also the film’s dubious narrator, lies in a hospital bed perilously close to death. He tells us that love did this to him, and we’re about to find out why.” Toronto Star – Read Full Article Here.
I find Jim Carrey rather creepy in serious roles; The Number 23. McGregor on the other hand is always playing this wide range of characters, I could easily see him in any role, whether or not he does it well, is another thing.
Carrey on kissing another man: “I did find myself wondering what will people think? And what if I like it? And how will that affect me? And Jenny?”
Hulk Vs: Animated Feature DVD Release

While animation is usually not my bag, I have had the opportunity as of late to view a variety of clips from this upcoming release, featuring Hulk vs Wolverine and Hulk vs Thor.
I remember the Marvel Hulk comics from my childhood, and vaguely even a tv show… this provides me with at the very least a jumping off point when considering what type of story to expect. It would seem from the clips that it does follow the typical storyline for this particular genre, the difference that I see with my keen joe public eye, is in the animation.
Cartoons have not been the same since the late ’80s, early ’90s maybe… this dvd seems to capture that truly Saturday morning cartoon feel. No, not like the Flintstones or the Gummi Bears, think more Transformers and GI Joe… but with more finese. These clips made me want to grab a box of Cap’n Crunch/Count Chockula/FrootLoops and get ready for a morning of classics!
The Special Features section looks like it would really appeal to all of you Marvel die hards.
Look for the release of the Hulk Vs DVD on January 27, 2009.
