Longest Movie Ever - The Cure For Insomnia
The longest movie ever, according to the Guinness Book Of World Records, is ‘The Cure For Insomnia‘. It is directed by John Henry Timmis IV and was released in 1987. It runs for 5220 minutes (87 hours!!!) and has no plot whatsoever. The film mostly consists of the poet, L.D. Groban, reciting his own poem which is 4,080 pages(!!!!) long and has clips of pornography and metal music videos inter-sliced into his reading.
The film was basically an experiment designed to reprogram the biological clocks of insomniacs so they can sleep again. I would love to find out what the results of the experiment were and who suggested this is a movie in the first place?

Got something to say?
It seems like it would cure them! I’d be asleep after 10 minutes!
Just reading how long it is makes me want to go to sleep
A guy I know has actually seen this movie.
I don’t think I could ever watch it.
Wow Ryne, are you serious? Could we get his comments on the movie? It would great to have someone who has actually seen it, tell us what he thought
If I ever have 87 hours to kill, I am doubtful that even in the case of insomnia, that I’d watch someone read poetry… I fear that might invoke a strong desire to raid my kitchen drawer for something sharp!
What’s really pathetic about this movie is that someone(s) actually took the time to create and market it. Money was spent on it.
Sad.
Reel Ninja - I could ask him, but he’s quite weird. He’s pretty eccentric and he thinks he’s a genius, so he probably wouldn’t be a good guy to ask about the movie.
It figures that he would be the one to have seen this movie.
haha, I see what you are saying, let’s not get sucked into something we did not bargain for. Point taken
