Sex and the City - Movie Review by RNW

Sex and The City Movie ReviewAs with my Indiana Jones review, I cannot claim to be a member of this iconic following. While I’ve atleast seen episodes of SATC in passing, I am not up to speed on all of the ongoings of the characters from the series.I took in this movie with some girlfriends whose husbands refused to take them (presumably Reel Ninja could be a party to those husbands :) and just prior to the previews beginning I turned to the girls and asked if anyone knew how the series ended, just in case there was some necessary tidbit that would tie the series to the movie. Nothing too unexpected, even in my sporadic viewing.

I must share with you that I once overheard Sarah Jessica Parker’s face described as looking like a foot. That thought always makes me laugh. I was more interested in the delectable Chris Noth (Mr. Big), of the Law and Order series fame. Mr. Big did not disappoint… nor did any of the other core characters, all true to form.

There were quite a few chuckles and a sprinkle of boisterous laughter moments in the movie, but truly driven to the ladies in the crowd. I can’t imagine Reel Ninja busting a gut to the humour as I doubt he could relate.

If you’re a series fan, definitely spend the money and see it with some girlfriends… DO NOT drag your male partner, buddy, brother or otherwise… unless you’re planning on making it up to them immediately following the credits! :)

I give this movie 6.5 ‘Manolo’s’ out of 10.

Yes, I agree with you. Wives/girlfriends should not try to drag their husbands/boyfriends to see this movie. I and 9 other guys were the only ones in the theater with 150+ women. It felt a little weird watching a “girly” movie with a bunch of women! In the end, I liked it and tied all the loose ends from the season finale in Paris.

This is the ultimate chick movie, apparently, by the reactions of men. After making fun of my partner in front of his macho friends, that I was taking him to this movie, he refuses to go. (Of course we will be seeing Hellboy soon.) He too thinks Sarah’s face looks like a foot. We women love her! Men don’t! It is the strangest division of visual preference. If the chicks were hotter, more men would go, but then we women probably wouldn’t like it as much because the acting would suck. My friend with whom I watched the whole series saw the movie in Hollywood before it came out. So now, I have to go solo on a cheap matinee, but looking forward to it…. allllll allllooonnne. My friend says it is a tear-jerker, so I’d rather be alone for that sappy stuff anyway.

Jaden, for me there was only one real tear jerker scene - though one of the girls I went with cried throughout. Maybe it was just an off day for me, because I love a good movie that makes me cry. Hope you enjoyed it. RNW

Sizzling - funny how no one thinks twice when a woman shows up for a totally guy-geared movie :)

Sex and the City seems to have a polarizing effect on both men and women… people either love the movie or they hate it

Got something to say?
