P.S. I Love You: Movie Review

P.S. I Love YouChick Flick.

Feel the need to exhaust a box of tissues? Single and dreaming of the perfect husband? Married and dreaming of the perfect husband? lol - this movie was made for you.

Hilary Swank, Lisa Kudrow, Kathy Bates, Harry Connick Jr., and Gerard Butler round out the cast for this 2007 flick. Swank, who I rather enjoyed in Boys Don’t Cry, didn’t thrill me in her role as Holly, the young widow who is left letters and packages by her dearly departed, Gerry (Gerard Butler).

The story is a real heart wrencher, and I admittedly cried more than once at the truly undying love one can have for another. However, I’d have to say that Swank is better cast in a dramatic role, rather than a romantic comedy. I felt like I was always looking for the comedy, it didn’t ever seem to surface.

Gerard Butler of 300 fame, seemed as though he might have come across a bit better if he would have had been given a more “warm” co-star, maybe Jennifer Aniston, or Renee Zellweger. Butler did however provide more than one occassion to swoon at the gorgeous Irish brogue that trickled off his lips.

Even if this was still in theatres I’d recommend it as a DVD candidate.

I give this movie 5 ‘bad karaoke performances’ out of 10.

I agree with your review and rating, completely! I have to say it was far better than the book.

Thanks Lynn… I didn’t read this book, and thanks to your feedback, I won’t waste my time on it! :)
