The Hudsucker Proxy (1994)
When Waring Hudsucker, head of hugely successful Hudsucker Industries, commits suicide, the board of directors of Hudsucker Industries, chaired by Sidney Mussberger, brews up with a splendid plan to earn a lot of money by appointing a imbecile to run the company and drive the stock prices to the ground.
When the stock drops low enough, Sidney and friends can buy it up for hardly anything on the dollar, take over the company, and rejuvenate its fortunes. For an imbecile, they choose Norville Barnes, who just started working for the company in the mail room.
Norville is goofy enough to drive any company to the disaster, but soon, tough news reporter Amy Archer figures something is wrong and starts out an undercover investigation of Hudsucker Industries.
The movie stars Tim Robbins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Paul Newman and is directed by the Coen Brothers, Joel and Ethan Coen.
